I am researching the standards for calendar data exchange formats for a project in my Emerging Technologies course with Dr. Thomas Ho. So far I’m finding iCal is the most frequently mentioned standard. I doubt this could be done as my project due to its vastness, but I am interested in creating a calendar for the entire world to use by filtering out what is important to them. This calendar would recognize iCal and other formats anywhere on the web bringing an interactive record of every event, appointment, meeting, and task to a central location. My idea would incorporate some unique tools such as the filtering ability, synchronization with multiple devices or services, and the ability to share and toggle between multiple calendars. I’ll report back my on research as it continues.
